Call me old fashioned, but I really do love hand written letters, and being a pen pal with someone is something really special for me.
Of course it’s much easier to communicate with people far and wide via computer, but that’s not the same thing.
Since my early age I had a few pen pals that I have written lots of letters to, and of course received about the same amount back. Needless to say how excited I was every time when I’ve received, or send a letter. So many interesting topics, so many secrets, so many tears (sad or laughing tears) that spread the ink on the paper so you have to guess what word, or even a sentence should be there… there are so many great things about hand writing letters. My favorite thing about being a pen pal is that you have an opportunity to choose a verity of paper designs, also to see the difference between the fine or extra fine fountain pen, or the most important to improve your hand writing. I was so happy and excited about every single sent or received letter.
I will never forget the day, when I have received a letter from my friend from Germany. I was about 14 years old, and at that point I have never been to Germany. I was always happy to see an interesting and different post stamp, and a just sight on that throws me far away… So I was standing by the mail box while the post men approach to our building, and almost took the letter from his hand. As soon as I got to my house I opened the letter, and I was mesmerized. I was truly fascinated by smell of it, as well as of the design of the letter paper itself. I was standing in the middle of the living room with closed eyes, smelling the letter, and imagining myself on the streets of Germany! From that day on I knew the smell of Germany. After a couple of years I went for my very first time into Germany, and all I was expecting to feel there was my “smell of Germany”.
I wish if people would be more interested in this type of writing!
For me being a teaologist, it’s absolutely natural thing to start my morning with nice cup, actually rather pot of tea. I do love coffee, but the tea makes me happy and relaxed. Happy Friday!!!!
